Groundbreaking at 10 Fan Pier Boulevard

RBA joined Elkus Manfredi Architects, The Fallon Company, and MassMutual in celebrating the official groundbreaking of 10 Fan Pier Boulevard. The ceremony was attended by Massachusetts Governor Charlie Baker and Boston Mayor Martin J. Walsh, among others.

Our design will bring streetscape improvements and a new public-realm fountain plaza to Fan Pier’s waterfront.

Richard Burck Associates, Inc. is pleased to announce the promotion of Tim Mackey to a Principal of the firm.

Since joining the firm in 1996 Tim has become central to the success of Richard Burck Associates in the making of commercial, civic and institutional landscapes at a broad range of project scales. His adroit professional skills have guided the design development, documentation and realization of numerous award-winning projects such as: Boston University Law School, The Watch Factory Waltham, MA and the Millennium Tower, Shoppers Park at Boston’s Downtown Crossing. Tim’s skilled project management, especially when working with multidisciplinary teams of design consultants, has successfully woven complex ecological, topographic, accessibility, constructional and programmatic site design issues into built works that physically embody the environmental, social and expressive ideas that are central to the design mission of the firm.

We look forward to Tim Mackey continuing to develop and expand his professional practice as a Principal of Richard Burck Associates.

RBA is joining KPMB Architects on the new Boston University Data Sciences Center.  What is now a parking lot will be transformed into a vital new part of the BU campus including new streetscape design, a study courtyard, alley improvements and a reimagined community park.

Jamaica Plain Branch Boston Public Library Receives 2018 Preservation Achievement Award

Richard Burck Associates Awarded Johnson Memorial Gate Restoration at Emerald Necklace Gateway

The City of Boston Parks Department has awarded Richard Burck Associates the contract for the Westland Avenue Gateway at Back Bay Fens. The Gateway is a main entrance point to the Fens of the Olmsted-designed Emerald Necklace and includes conservation of the historic Johnson Memorial Gates monuments. RBA is honored to be a part of this improvement effort by the City of Boston.

Robyn Reed Presents Collier Memorial Landscape at Women in Design Lecture Series

Robyn Reed presented Richard Burck Associate’s design philosophy for the landscape at MIT’s Collier Memorial, alongside Meejin Yoon (of Höweler + Yoon Architecture LLP) and Carrie Hawley (of HLB Lighting) for Women in Design’s 2016 lecture series. The lecture focused on the collaborative and design processes of this memorial that was constructed to honor the memory of officer Sean Collier, a victim of the Boston Marathon shooting. RBA was honored to be a part of the original design process and is proud to have Robyn present our philosophy to a vital network in the Boston design community.

Tozzer Anthropology Building Receives Two National Design Awards

Congratulations to Kennedy+Violich Architects on recently winning a 2016 SCUP/AIA-CAE Excellence Award and a 2015 BSA Design Honor Award for the Tozzer Anthropology Building at Harvard University. Richard Burck Associates is proud to have worked with KVA and the rest of the project team on this design.

Two RBA Projects Receive 2016 Preservation Achievement Award

The Sumner Redstone Building at Boston University School of Law (Bruner/Cott & Associates) and the Burnham Building in Downtown Crossing (Handel Architects) were both selected to receive a 2016 Preservation Achievement Award from the Boston Preservation Alliance (BPA). The projects were selected with 10 other notable sites in Boston, which can be viewed in depth here. Congratulations to the architects and all of the 2016 project team winners, and thank you to the BPA for their nominations.

RBA receives honors at the 2016 BSLA Awards

Richard Burck Associates won two awards at the Boston Society of Landscape Architecture Awards. Merit Awards in Streetscape Design and Education Design were given to the Broad Street Reconstruction and the Arts Court at Shady Hill School projects, respectively. Grand opening of a new building at Quinsigamond Community College

The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at Quinsigamond’s New Science and Technology Building marked the grand opening of a new building at Quinsigamond Community College. Collaborating with Perry Dean Rogers I Partners, Richard Burck Associates provided two entry courtyards allowing for accessibility issues to be addressed while offering spaces for students to gather and interact.

The Boston Harborwalk reopens at Fan Pier Park

The Boston Harborwalk reopens at Fan Pier Park. With Fan Pier Park Phase 1 largely complete, public access has been restored along the edge of Boston Harbor. Come explore the publically accessible Park’s new amenities, including the Tidal Well Fountain, the Fire Ring, and the improved Harborwalk paths.

Report Complete for Atlanta Federal Plaza

Richard Burck Associates, with Houser Walker Architecture, has completed its Final Report for the Sam Nunn Federal Center Plaza in Atlanta. The firms teamed with Long Engineering and Palacio Collaborative to envision phased improvements to the Midtown Atlanta plaza. The design report includes extensive research into the site’s cultural and ecological history, sustainable engineering to control water quality and mitigate storm volumes, and fresh thinking to address the needs of the plaza’s daily users.
